Lake Walker Run

Composed 2 March 2012 following a run around Lake Walker at Camp Shelby, MS.

It's wake up
I know
Sound of the grind buzzing in my ear

Another day
finds me
In a movie script, no time to spare

Sometimes when things stack up
one on the other
I want to retreat
under God's cover
Gather up those I love most
head to the mountains, to the coast
Always remember what that wise man done
Looked me right in the eyes said
DON'T
FORGET
TO RUN

An old road
alone
A splash of life from the drips and the breeze

It's what
I need
When the day is long yet I am free

Sometimes when things stack up
one on the other
I want to retreat
under God's cover
Gather up those I love most
head to the mountains, to the coast
Always remember what that wise man done
Looked me right in the eyes said
DON'T
FORGET
TO RUN

Old roads
not alone
History and beauty's all we see

It's what
we need
The joy of each other--no place to be

When things just stack up
one on the other
We want to retreat
under God's cover
Gather up those we love most
head to the mountains, to the coast
Always remember what that wise man done
Looked us right in the eyes said
DON'T
FORGET
TO RUN
