U.S. Highways Never More than 2 Days Away

From Backpacker magazine, September 2008:

"Astonishingly, in the entire continental U.S., coast to coast, Mexico to Canada, there is only one place left where you can get more than 20 miles from a road: in the greater Yellowstone region."

Imagine what the next 250 years could bring.

ANSWER: Expand passenger rail system with more equipment on more routes!

It does seem unnecessary to have to provide year-round maintenance on the number of paved roads that we have.

I'm a road warrior myself though, and the freedom to get from point A to point B at any time is certainly enabling.

That being said, passenger rail is absolutely under-leveraged!
