Formula for Community

I'm currently reading Lois Lowry's Messenger, companion novel to The Giver and Gathering Blue. I'd like to share the four things the leader of the community in the story insists that all of his village's citizens do:

• read
• learn
• participate
• care for one another

Imagine the type of community in which each person strives his/her best to address these four simple items.

I know many great folks who address most or all of them as best they can, and they are whom I most admire. The challenge is to spread enthusiasm for effort to all.
